My M.O when doing my face is GLAZED DOUGHNUT/FRESH OUT OF A WATERHOLE/EFFORTLESS vibes. In fairness, I may have actually been wet in that photo with the black dress, but, as a general rule, if there’s no sheen, you can shove it; Give me juicy skin or you can jam it. As my skin ages, I feel really strongly about keeping it as hydrated as possible, steering clear of powders, matte finishes and too much makeup, and opting for luminescence wherever the hell I can grab it.
With that said, I’m forever on the hunt for affordable products that pack a punch when it comes to real ingredients that deliver that dewy glow. They’ve got to be quick and easy to use, not too many steps, and they’ve got to last longer than three pumps/12.5 droplets.
Here are my tried and tested daily MVPs. None of this is sponsored in any way, ok? These are products I’ve been using for quite some time now. They work brilliantly for my skin when I want to keep things super fresh and super simple. (A lot of these are home-grown, Aussie brands, which I love as well!)
SKINCARE
Sarche illuminate the cleanser - I use this in the shower, morning and night. Of a evening, I’ll double cleanse to remove SPF, makeup and grime. Twice a week, I’ll leave it on for a few minutes while I wash my hair or shave my pits. There’s a slight munchy-munch ingredient in this cleanser that will gently exfoliate when you let it sit a little longer here and there. Lasts 273 years. I swear, I’m still using a bottle from early 2023 and I don’t comprehend any of it.
Sarche illuminate the mist - A relatively new addition to my routine. Got this in December and am now unhealthily obsessed. Spritz on after cleansing. It’ll dampen your skin which will make the next product on my list (and any of your serums) sink in like nobody’s biz. Absolutely NOT a necessary step in any skincare routine, but gosh it feels refreshing and juicy when it’s hot as Hades outside. I bought it as a gift for my sister as well and she’s howling to the moon about it.
Sarche elevate hyraboost balm - THIS. THIS product is my #1 dewy, glowy best friend. It’s jam-packed with hyaluronic acid + Vit. B5 which does all sorts of fantastic glowy things. It goes on pretty thick, but trust me, let it sit for a little bit, then apply your BB cream/foundation and you’ll understand my love affair.
Cetaphil daily hydrating lotion - I use this one as a basic, simple day/night cream when I’m at home and not wanting to waste my hydraboost balm(above). It’s a nice in-between with clean ingredients.
Windella Farm nurture face oil - I use this maybe once a week or once a fortnight before bed, when I’m feeling like some extra nourishing skin TLC.
SUNSCREEN
Airyday spf50+ clear as day dreamscreen - this one gives good glow and acts as a great makeup primer.
Ultra Violette spf50+ queen screen lightweight skinscreen - so does this one.
Naked Sundays hydrating glow mist top up spray spf50+ - and this one is a fantastic little aerosol spritz to top-up your sunscreen without wiping off your entire face. Great to carry in a purse.
MAKEUP
MCoBeauty Miracle Hyaluronic Tinted Serum (I use shade 3-4 light medium) - this is my everyday BB cream. Very light. Definitely nowhere near full coverage, but gives off great dew. It’s nearly always on sale for half price at either Big W or Woolies. I apply with a makeup brush under eyes + around nose, chin and temples where I get a bit of redness or uneven skin tone. You can absolutely slap it on with your hands and rub into your entire face like your life depends on it because it feels just like a serum.
Mecca Max life proof cream concealer (I use shade 240 but there are 25 shades to choose from) - I dab this under eyes to correct darkness + any spots and dots. I use a makeup brush to buff out. You can also just use a sponge thing or your fingers but I really swear by a good foundation brush for that even, glowy finish.
MCoBeauty Cheek and lip tint - I use the Tango and Flamingo shades. Again, anything in a creamy finish will add glow to your skin. This product goes a very long way. Only use a teeny, tiny bit or you’ll end up looking like Bozo the Clown.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream - my Mum got this for me at Christmas. Perfect as a kick-ass lip balm and cuticle cream, but I also use it for glowy eyelids, grooming my eyebrows in place, and adding a bit dew to my cheekbones.
Righto, that’s it from me! Glow forth and be dewy!
